ADFC Committed to Protecting Consumers from Misleading Claims

June 9, 2022

NEW YORK (June 9, 2022) – A major focus of the American Down & Feather Council’s spring meeting was on the strides that ADFC’s Standards Committee and legal counsel have made in working with online retailers to make sure that claims about down content do not mislead consumers. The ADFC labeling program was developed by the group decades ago to set the standard for down and feather bedding products sold in the U.S. They must be labeled correctly to meet or exceed the claims made on the label or packaging.

Also, at the meeting, Brett Rife, vice president of sales of Keeco LLC, was elected the new ADFC chairman, succeeding Travis Stier, of Down Décor. As Stier stepped down he was lauded by ADFC board members for his steady leadership throughout the challenging years of the pandemic and for his role in working on the online retailer outreach initiative.

In taking the helm of the council, Rife noted, “ADFC’s goal of improving product quality and advancing common industry interests dovetails with my passion for down and feather education, training, and in creating a level industry playing field.”
